Executive leadership demands a different capability: discernment. Not every truth needs be spoken immediately, and not every audience is ready to hear it. The most respected CXOs understand that leadership is not simply about saying the right thing. It is about preparing the conditions in which the right thing can actually be heard and accepted. Sometimes you need more data or stronger relationships or you need the organisation to experience enough tension that the truth becomes self-evident. Wisdom lies in knowing the difference. The same message can create resistance on Monday and transformation on Friday—not because the truth changed, but because the context did.
