11:11 Tuesdays by Vaishali Wagle

February 4, 2024

Hello Reader,

Here are 1 Thought, 1 Quote, 1 Word & 1 Humour for you to reflect upon this week...

1.

Thought

As leaders your time is precious and you also may be starved for time.

If you are thinking time management is the answer, then think again.

The answer is to have techniques to manage your focus. Here are 5 time tested and surprisingly simple ways to achieve that.

  1. The ONE thing: The author presents us with the focus question "What's the one thing i can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?" Apply this to all areas of your life like work, relationship, health, finance,..
  2. Important v/s Interest: My take on the famous 'urgent v/s important matrix' is that nothing urgent will ever need to be plotted, it just needs to get done. Instead i offer the 'interest v/s important matrix'. Plot your work on this matrix today and see what needs your attention and also what will bring more satisfaction.
  3. 80/20 Rule: Identify 20% of tasks that will generate 80% results. Delete or delegate the remaining.
  4. Power of saying no: Replace your FOMO (fear of missing out) or your values that stop you from saying no with JOMO (joy of missing out). Guard your time (calendar) like a mother bird guards her nest.
  5. Less is more: Put all your eggs in one basket. We've been told not to do that, so we scatter the eggs in many baskets and end up clumsily trying to carry all these baskets and breaking some eggs. Practice the minimalist approach of less is more.

Which of these techniques will you try this week?

I'd love to hear from you on how you manage your most precious asset - your focus.
