You lose if you win at this game - The Blame Game ​ Blame is like sugar in your tea — addictive, comforting… and ultimately corrosive. We are not talking of the childlike 'pointing fingers' type of blame, instead it's about the belief of what you are accountable for. ​ When you blame once, you think you've dodged the problem, and that you'd never do it again, but surely you can't give up the sugar in the tea. Worse is that it tricks you into thinking you’ve solved the problem by pushing it elsewhere. But here's the catch: the more you outsource accountability, the more you insource sub-levelling and distrust. In the long run, blame erodes your credibility, one excuse at a time. ​ In boardrooms and brainstorms alike, what gets remembered isn't just what you said — it's what you owned. This week, if you’re tempted to say, “It wasn’t me,” pause and ask: “What was me?”​ Because that’s where the growth — and power — lives. ​
